Alumni Lunch - December 2023 | General Michael I. Neil, USMC(Ret), Delta Xi/San Diego State 1959

Please join us for our final luncheon of 2023. We welcome Significant Sig, General Michael I. Neil, USMC(Ret), Delta Xi '62 as our guest speaker. 

General Neil was initiated into the Delta Xi Chapter on February 22,1959. During his time at San Diego State, General Neil served as Delta Xi's Treasurer, Associated Men Student Vice President, Del Sudoeste Yearbook Fraternity Editor and played basketball for the Aztecs. After graduating from San Diego State College in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Law, Neil graduated from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley in 1966. Upon his Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United State Marine Corps, Neil was ordered to the 1st Marine Division in Vietnam. During his time as platoon commander with Company D, 15th Battalion, 7th Marines, Neil was awarded the Purple Heart and later the Navy Cross, second only to the Medal of Honor, as a result of his combat action. Following his return to the US, Neil served as Staff Judge Advocate as both a defense attorney and prosecutor at MCRD San Diego. In September 1990, General Neil took command of Camp Pendleton. General Neil retired in August 1993.

General Neil is a Founding Partner of Neil Dymott Law Firm in San Diego and was named "Top 10" Super Lawyers in San Diego by Law & Politics Magazine. General Neil lives in San Diego and has been married for 50 years with 2 children.
