San Diego Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter Lunch Program

Join us Friday June 14 (Flag Day) to hear about football from a San Diegan, who spent decades literally ON the gridiron. Hall of Fame veteran referee Michael Mothershed, will share his experiences officiating games from Pop Warner and High School football to the college football BCS National Championship game?

Michael starting officiating in 1985 working up to 2 San Diego County CIF Championship games. He then began working Junior College/Division II and in 1995 was appointed a Side Judge for the PAC-10 Conference. In 2001 he worked as a Field Judge for the short lived XFL football league.

Michael was assigned to officiate the 2006 BCS National Championship game. In 2014 he was chosen to be a PAC-12 Referee, and he has been assigned to eighteen Bowl Games and four PAC-12 Championship games.  

He has represented NCAA football officials at the NCAA Football Rules Committee, and in 2017 Michael was inducted into the San Diego County Officials Hall of Fame!
