Alumni Lunch - September 2021 | Cipriano Vargas - Mu Beta/California State San Marcos 2014

Please join us to welcome Brother Cipriano Vargas, Mu Beta '14, Candidate for Vista Mayor.

Cipriano Vargas is a proud graduate of Vista Unified Schools and currently serves as the Board President of the Vista Unified School Board and Chair of the CSUSM Alumni Association. 

Cipriano is a founding father of the Sigma Chi Mu Beta Chapter and served as the first Pro-Consul during the colony phase. In 2012, he was appointed by Governor Brown to serve as the student Representative for the CSU Board of Trustees.

After achieving his bachelor’s degree in sociology, Cipriano went on to teach kindergarten in the urban core of San Antonio, Texas. In 2016, with the support of innumerable community members, Vargas became the youngest person elected to the Vista Unified School Board. He is a delegate to the California School Boards Association, and commonly makes legislative visits to state and federal representatives in Sacramento and Washington D.C.. 

In 2020, he was re-elected  to the Vista Unified School Board and continues his work on early childhood education, access to dual-language programs, and ensuring all students have systems in place that allow them to reach their full potential.
